Adventure
Mule Caravan
Mount Tomorr, via the village of Tomor
Mules have carried people up Mount Tomorr for centuries — in ancient and medieval times, and in Albanian Romantic literature, the mountain was envisioned as the home of the gods. This two-day trip follows that same tradition.
After arriving in Berat and visiting a historic house in the Mangalem quarter to see the old craft of stone carving (and taste the family’s homemade marmalade), you’ll meet the mule herders the next morning at the village of Tomor and ride up toward the mountain’s old castle, picnicking in the valleys along the way.
Highlights
- Ride mules along historic trails toward Tomorr's summit
- Visit a historic Mangalem stone-carving house
- A tradition reaching back to antiquity
